Breast Cancer Awareness Month

According to the American Cancer Society, “More women in the United States are surviving and thriving after breast cancer than ever before. In fact, in the last 30 years, the breast cancer death rate has dropped an astounding 40%. The decreases are believed to be the result of finding breast cancer earlier through screening, increased awareness, and better treatments.”

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month STAR 99.1 is partnering with Pink Breast Centers throughout New Jersey to dispel common myths about breast cancer and encourage you to schedule your annual mammogram.

Join Kristen James as she talks with survivors and hear their inspiring stories!

As a mom of small kids, Courtney was told she was “too young” to worry about breast cancer. Because she chose to advocate for herself instead, it saved her life. Here is her story.
Having gone through breast cancer multiple times…Deborah is a fighter and survivor. Listen to her compelling story of being diagnosed at 30…and her journey since.
Lorie avoided mammograms because she was afraid of the pain. Listen to her share about finding something after a bath one night and how she’s doing today.
Cindy lost her Grandmother to breast cancer. The loss inspired her to stay vigilant with her own health. Hear how she keeps peace of mind when it comes to a family history of breast cancer.

Join Kristen James and Dr. Lisa Sheppard from PINK Breast Centers as they field questions, dispel myths and empower you with information to be your own best health advocate!

My friend Kiki Nicole had breast cancer at a young age and she was a strong fighter, with her friends and family around her to encourage her and give her the support she needed. She was able to over come this. I want to give a big shout out to an amazing mother and wife Kiki from south Brunswick NJ

All of you are amazing…years ago, I had a 21 year old girlfriend who had breast cancer, and unfortunately she had to have a total masectomy. It was devastating but years later, she is thankful that she healthy and Alive! She has been cancer free for years! It is important to get checked and all the women in family do just that!

My Aunt Patsy lost the battle to breast cancer in her second round but, her faith was not shaken. She testified to God’s faithfulness and encouraged others that early detection to save lives.
